GRC / GFRC Concrete

ConcreAte — manufacturer of architectural concrete and GRC

GRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete), also known as GFRC, is a modern variation of architectural concrete reinforced with dispersed glass fibres. GRC technology allows the creation of concrete elements that are lighter, thinner and stronger than traditional concrete — while preserving the full aesthetics of raw architectural concrete.

ConcreAte uses GRC technology to produce wall panels, facade panels, decorative elements and fences. As a manufacturer of GRC architectural concrete, we offer products with parameters unavailable in traditional concrete technologies.

What is GRC concrete?

GRC is a cement composite reinforced with zirconia glass fibres (Cem-FIL). Glass fibres make up 2–5% of the dry mix mass and act as dispersed reinforcement — significantly increasing the concrete's flexural and tensile strength compared to traditional architectural concretes.

Composition

GRC architectural concrete consists of Portland cement, fine moulding sand (quartz aggregate), water, zirconia glass fibres, plasticising admixtures and polymers. Unlike traditional concrete, GRC uses no coarse aggregate — enabling thin-walled elements with a smooth, refined surface. All colouring is done in-mass, ensuring uniform colour throughout the cross-section.

Technical parameters

Compressive strength: class C25/35 (minimum). Flexural strength: above 6 MPa (premix), up to 18–20 MPa (spray-up). Frost resistance: class 3 per PN-EN 14992. Fire reaction: class A1 (non-combustible). Minimum thickness: 10 mm. Weight: up to 3× lighter than traditional concrete.

GRC vs traditional concrete

Traditional architectural concrete is heavy (min. 20 mm thick, approx. 44 kg per 140×70 cm slab), brittle in bending and limited in form. GRC changes these limitations: panels can be 10 mm thin, flexible (they don't snap like traditional concrete), and their flexural strength is 2–3× higher.
